'Toon for June 25, 2000
Beach badges - yes, a crazy concept that we've lived with for as long as I can remember. Ah yes, pay to get on the beach that you pay for already with taxes....
In other news, no entry for today on the main site. I know I rarely take a day off, but I just don't feel like writing today ~ I'm in quite a good mood - went to Great Adventure for two hours this morning for one thing. Came home and found some nifty fonts to download (yeah, that excited me...) and before that I found out about an open house/job fair thing that I can go to Wed. so I am set!

Godzilla SUV
"We Care About the Environment--All Our SUVs Are Certified Dolphin-Safe!"
Ha ha - this was funny!! I don't know what my luck has been lately in stumbling onto these anti-SUV pages, but I hope it keeps happening :)

Even Al suffers
Ha ha Mets... yeah I know my Phillies are in last place, but it's these
little victories that can make weary fans happy :)
By the way, I wanted to link an article that was in the paper today
about smog, and how the levels of it are going to be really bad this
summer (no shock there) - but of course it's not on the web site.
Typical.

Ford Excursion, That is!
Hehe -- I wanted to find a link that made fun of the Excursion, and
the first one I found does the trick. We all know how much I don't like
SUV's - well, today one made my day.
My dad always says many people
probably can't drive these things right cos they are just too big - well, today when coming home from Great Adventure, while coming near the merge onto I-195, I was in
back of an Excursion, and I saw it was getting close to the curb on the turn around. It was going at least 30MPH - it side-swiped the curb! I couldn't stop laughing ~ my friend must have thought I was out of my mind.

I'm sick of AOL sending me disks to set up AOL on my computer. We (and probably everyone else) have been getting these for years now, even before we had a computer. First it was the floppy disks; that was okay, cos at least you could re-use them. Now though, they've been sending CDs to which all we can do is throw away. The latest was yesterday, when an AOL 5.0 disk came in a big hard plastic box ~ okay, can we say waste of packaging, right into the landfll? It's sick, it really is.
I'm sorry AOL, I'd never use you to begin with, but now you've really driven that point home.

What is this out of nowhere?
[10:28 p.m.] Thursday, June 15, 2000
A great article about OVO, Real World, and Peter Gabriel
"It feels like what it is: a hopeful, soaraway parable for the youth of a new century, encoding the big issues of social, cultural and technological history in a big way against a big backdrop, accompanied by some big thumps on the drums."
(Found through the ever-wonderful
Solsbury Hill)

Crispian Mills
A nice new site about CM.
(I cannot wait for him to release something. Then again, I'm used to waiting for albums - I'm a Peter Gabriel fan after all!!)

Site news - no journal entry today, just way too tired and achy. What do you expect after the first day at a new job though? Tomorrow I should feel better so there will be tons of stories to tell.
For now, here's two links, I know, more stuff from the newspaper. I'm really unoriginal this week. I'll try and find something else neat for tonight before I go offline!

Springsteen fans at opening night aren't fazed by fuss
Every time Bruce Springsteen comes to town, it makes the front page. This story was the main headline today....in big bold print.

Living the Dream
A very nice article on the Devils.
Oh, by the way, that three day heat wave is gone - right now it's about 61ºF and raining.
[07:50 p.m.] Monday, June 12, 2000
There will be work on my site as soon as I know the power isn't going to magically go off again because of the heat. (It's already done that twice this afternoon, and I believe it did yesterday as well, because when I got home today, my clock was flashing.)
It is very hot - my dad saw a thermometer reading 99º (I saw one at 96º) - but it's only June. If the power company is going to start this up again people aren't going to be happy.

Believe it Arnott, the Devils have the Cup
Go Devils ~ it was amazing last night when the Devils took the cup in the second OT period!! The Stanley Cup has returned to NJ :)
So will there be a parking lot parade again up in the Meadowlands? hehe ;)

(This means I'm taking a break from the web until Sunday. No e-mail, no site.)

The Dawning of a New Day
I miss Krissy :(
So here's her link.
Oh I know I shouldn't still be up with how sick I've been - I should be resting.... but I'm suddenly wide awake. So much for the medicine putting me to sleep eh?
Alright, I'll leave the land of the internet now ~ hehe.

A pretty site I stumbled upon this afternoon.
Okay, okay, so I didn't stumble upon it, I found it via Melissa'a links page. Oh, and I found she linked my journal too :)

Kay's Velvet Goldmine Site
I can't seem to break my obsession with this film ~ I thought I had for a while, but then I went out and bought the soundtrack and that seems to be all I can listen to these days!
